Gazing Ahead.

"Life has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction."
--Antoine de Saint-Exupery

This is the Boy and I. I cannot imagine anyone else in this place. Next to me. Walking. Through the dirt, the sun, and the rain. Through the fields of wildflowers, next to the train tracks, and rounding the corner. One glances left, the other right, in tandem we walk, steady. Forward, one foot at a time. When I trip, he's already reaching to pick me up. He runs forward, I pace us. Balancing act. Together we can take on the world and add a bit more sunshine while we're at it.

Summer Change?

I currently have long layered hair. Occasionally when part of its pulled back I get a glimpse of what it would look like shorter - like right above the collar bone. The Boy recently commented that it would look cute in a above the shoulder bob.

It got me thinking. I love my long hair, but could the summer bring a change for a few months? If I didn't go so short I could grow it back by fall time.

Thoughts? Having a face shape like these ladies (Katie Holmes, Kirsten Dunst, Maggie Gylenhal), I'm thinking something like this but a little bit longer.

Something to think about. I'm not sure...I love my ponytail! :)

"I'm here I'm here," said the Scrap

It was a little bit of a rough morning. First, my alarm didn't go off. I'm not sure why. But thankfully (yes yes) I wake up on my own usually around 7am. And the dog started to stir. But still I was a bit shocked. I thought, wait is this right. Does this have to do with the time change, did I forget to change this clock? Nope. Odd. I hope to correct this tonight.

I also took a fall. I'm not sure how this happened but somehow I lost my balance coming into work this morning. I wasn't wearing heels or even carrying that much. But evidently my right ankle gave way, and sure enough I fell forward catching myself on my left hand. As I was going down I remember saying out loud "ow"...as I pulled myself up I started to really hope that I hadn't riped a hole in my pants from the fall. Thankfully I didn't. Although when I walked inside and dusted myself off, I pulled up my pants to reveal a nice little scrap. Just the type I remember getting as a kid. You know they burn a little while after the fall.

I washed off my hands and took a damp paper towel to my pants to get rid of the dirt and dust.

Well at least I enjoyed a small Chai Tea Latte on my way in. I'm feeling a bit tired and now the scrap just keeps reminding via a little throbbing sensation "I'm here, I'm here."

Hopefully its going to say "I'm gone I'm gone" sooner than later.

Joy Spilling Over.

Life is good. I have no complaints, besides the dog waking up at 2am a few weeks back, its been sunny in my part of the world. Things have just been easy, fun, and moving ahead here. I find myself updating Mom on the phone with details of my East, TN life and hear her say back "you sound so happy, it just rings through your voice."

And then there's the other Mom, and family. We spent a lovely weekend at the Boy's family home last weekend. Honestly, they rock. We enjoyed the weather, wii fit, and water. All w's, yes. His mom, sister, and I enjoyed laughing and playing while the boys made us dinner. I hope the Boy knows how great a time I had, and how great it is to have this extended family who takes me for me.

I cannot ask for more. Not for a better family, better Boy, friends, church or better pup. They all rock, completely totally fill me up till my cup is spilling out on the table with joy. And its so pretty, no one wants to clean it up.

Well you get the point. I'm happy for times in life when it feels this easy, and know that challenges may lie ahead but we have these springs to remember.

First Signs of Spring

I could still see my breath this morning, but as I stepped outside for a brief moment during my lunch hour I noticed a dramatic change in the climate. Being from the arctic tundra better known as the city of Chicago, any day with a hint of brighter light and temperature above 40 is considered a Godsend!

The fact that the little digital reading temperature in my car read 60 called for an instant - "woo hoo". With that I also managed to locate a convenient place to grab a Chocolate milkshake to celebrate the first day of Spring! (Also eating soup every day for lunch calls for a chocolate moment now and then!)

The little robins with the plump red breasts are appearing, and the Pup has certainly noticed them in the early morning. The buds on the flowers also look just about ready to pop open.
This really is my favorite time of year. There's something about the newness of Spring, the rejoicing, and the hope out of every planting, bird song, and bud that all is made new again and all is alive.

I'm on the look out for more signs~
